Project Description

This 23 km existing road forms a part of construction access road to mega water supply project (originally estimated to cost US $ 464.0 million Melamchi Water Supply Project) intake site to facilitate inter basin transfer of 510 MLD of water via 26 km long tunnel to Nepal’s capital Kathmandu. The single lane road is to be upgraded to ferry heavy construction vehicles using otta seal pavement. The road runs through hills and river sides requiring extensive application of heavy retaining structures for river training and slope protection.

Provision of consulting services includes review of detailed engineering design undertaken by Norplan, a Norwegian company, carryout changes as necessary and provide complete supervision services for internationally procured contract, where Marushin Shitaka, a Japanese company leads the consortium.

Services

  • Design reports review.
  • Provide/ check setting out points, line, levels of reference point as per drawing.
  • Supervise quality of works as per specification, drawing, condition of contract.
  • Check progress bills submitted by contractor and issue interim/ final payment certificates to be paid by the Executive Director.
  • Approval and enforcement of Quality Assurance/Control Plan.
  • Approve contractor’s work plan.
  • Check contract quantities and project cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain daily diary, appropriate records, correspondence and diary of work activities.
  • Assess, examine and recommend Contractor's Claim.
  • Assist MWSDB in project implementation and Suggest to overcome implementation difficulties.
  • Recommend to MWSDB in design and drawing modification during construction.
  • Preparation of As-Built drawings and other necessary drawings.
  • Monitoring of EMAP.
  • Final Inspection of the work and recommendation for the payment.
  • Prepare/ submit Inception Report, Design Review Report, Progress Reports and Completion Report.
